The current Englich edition of „physical Examination in Interna) Medicine", penned this time in a book form by teachers on the Faculty of Medicine, Charles University in Hradec Králové, is an extension of the popular syllabus of the same name that has been reprinted nine times since its first edition ín 1977. The text's validity has been documented by its successful utility in all Czech and Slovak medical schools for the past twenty five yers. The contents is oriented toward learning the proper relationship between physician and patient in order to obtain the most reliable medical history, as well as to teach methods of physical examination in order to gain a maximum of diagnostic information. All chapters have been updated and expanded (for example, physical findings in acquired and congenital heart diseases; physical signs in certain lung syndromes, such as the presence of fluid in the pleural cavity, the syndrome of lung condensation, etc.). New chapters have been added (Inroduction to Clinical Ethics, Basics of Neurologic Examination), and the book has been provided with a collection of frequent medical acronyms and abbreviations used i English-speaking medical institutions.
